Send This To The Immune Officer: Found letters To The Montclair Police Department from NJ Poet Alfred Starr Hamilton

Alfred Starr Hamilton (June 14, 1914 – March 1, 2005) was the only son and the youngest child of three born to Virginia Gildersleeve Hamilton and Alfred Starr Hamilton, Senior. Montclair born and bred, Hamilton rarely wandered far from home. Championed in the 1960s by such distinguished names as Jonathan Williams and Geof Hewitt, Hamilton has developed a cult following among graduate students of poetry and creative writing from NYU to U.C. Berkeley. His poetics reflect his New Jersey roots and this epistolary collection reflects his “weirdness.” Both allow our Mr. Hamilton a prime position in the Weird NJ Hall of Fame!

Researcher Lisa Borinsky has unearthed some rare documents about this reclusive NJ poet that have been kept in the Montclair Police department’s files for years, and now we present them as the police department saw them and tried to figure them out.
